German picks the other side of a language split
Wie alt bist du.
The world splits in two on this. Persian, French, Spanish and Italian all say they HAVE an age; German and English say they ARE it. So Ich bin fünfundzwanzig is correct and ich habe fünfundzwanzig Jahre is a sentence a German will not parse. The words Jahre alt are optional once the number is clear — Ich bin 25 is perfectly normal — but if you include them the order is fixed: number, then Jahre, then alt. To ask, German fronts the question word and puts the verb second: Wie alt bist du.
