Reported speech: say / tell
برای نقل گفتهٔ کسی از «said (that)…» یا «told someone (that)…» استفاده کن. تفاوت مهم: «tell» به یک شخص نیاز دارد («He told me…»)، ولی «say» نه («He said…»). فعل معمولاً یک پله به عقب می‌رود: «I am tired» ← «He said that he was tired.»
To report what someone said, use "said (that)…" or "told someone (that)…". The key difference: "tell" needs a person ("He told me…"), but "say" does not ("He said…"). The verb usually moves one step back: "I am tired" → "He said that he was tired."
