"by" + transport vs on / in
از «by» + وسیلهٔ حمل‌ونقل (بدون «the») استفاده کن: «by bus»، «by car»، «by train»، «by plane». ولی بگو «on foot» (نه «by foot»). وقتی داخل هستی، برای حمل‌ونقل عمومی که می‌توان در آن راه رفت از «on» استفاده کن (on the bus، on the train) و برای ماشین یا تاکسی از «in» (in a car، in a taxi).
Use "by" + a means of transport (no "the"): "by bus", "by car", "by train", "by plane". But say "on foot" (not "by foot"). When you are inside, use "on" for public transport you can walk through (on the bus, on the train) and "in" for a car or taxi (in a car, in a taxi).
