Past continuous + past simple
برای کارِ طولانی‌ترِ در حال انجام در گذشته از «was/were + -ing» استفاده کن. اغلب یک کار کوتاه‌تر (گذشتهٔ ساده) آن را قطع می‌کند که با «when» می‌آید: «I was cooking when the lights went off.» «while» پیش از کار طولانی‌تر می‌آید: «While I was cooking, the lights went off.»
Use "was/were + -ing" for a longer action in progress in the past. A shorter action (past simple) often interrupts it, joined by "when": "I was cooking when the lights went off." Use "while" before the longer action: "While I was cooking, the lights went off."
