گرامر: افعال عبارتی جداشدنی و جدانشدنی

Separable vs inseparable phrasal verbs

در افعال عبارتیِ جداشدنی (مثل «turn off»، «pick up»، «throw away»)، مفعول می‌تواند بین فعل و جزء یا بعد از آن بیاید: «turn off the TV» یا «turn the TV off». اما اگر مفعول ضمیر باشد (it، them)، باید وسط بیاید: «turn it off» (نه «turn off it»). افعال عبارتیِ جدانشدنی (مثل «look after»، «deal with») هرگز جدا نمی‌شوند: «look after them» (نه «look them after»).

With separable phrasal verbs (like "turn off", "pick up", "throw away"), the object can go between the verb and the particle or after it: "turn off the TV" or "turn the TV off". BUT if the object is a pronoun (it, them), it MUST go in the middle: "turn it off" (not "turn off it"). Inseparable phrasal verbs (like "look after", "deal with") never split: "look after them" (not "look them after").
