Reporting verbs and their patterns
در سطح B2 دیگر «said» را تکرار نکن. فعلی انتخاب کن که نگرشِ گوینده را برساند، و الگویش را یاد بگیر. + جملهٔ THAT: say, claim, explain, admit, deny, insist, point out, concede — «He claimed that the figures were wrong.» + مفعول + مصدر با to: tell, ask, warn, advise, remind, urge — «They warned us not to publish.» + اسم مصدر (-ing): admit, deny, suggest, recommend — «She denied taking the money.» + فقط مصدر با to: offer, refuse, promise, threaten — «He refused to answer.» ضمناً وقتی فعلِ گزارش گذشته است، زمان یک پله عقب می‌رود («is» ← «was»، «has done» ← «had done») و ضمیرها و قیدهای زمان هم عوض می‌شوند («tomorrow» ← «the next day»).
At B2, stop repeating "said". Choose a verb that carries the speaker's attitude, and learn the pattern it takes. + THAT clause: say, claim, explain, admit, deny, insist, point out, concede — "He claimed that the figures were wrong." + OBJECT + TO-INFINITIVE: tell, ask, warn, advise, remind, urge — "They warned us not to publish." + GERUND: admit, deny, suggest, recommend — "She denied taking the money." + TO-INFINITIVE only: offer, refuse, promise, threaten — "He refused to answer." Also shift the tense back one step when the reporting verb is past ("is" → "was", "has done" → "had done"), and change pronouns and time words ("tomorrow" → "the next day").
