Three groups: changing, unchanging, and never
گروه اول: بیشتر رنگ‌ها برای اسم مؤنث یک «e» می‌گیرند — vert می‌شود verte و noir می‌شود noire، و blanc به blanche تبدیل می‌شود. گروه دوم: رنگ‌هایی که از قبل به «e» ختم می‌شوند هرگز عوض نمی‌شوند — rouge، jaune، rose. گروه سوم: رنگ‌هایی که از اسم یک چیز گرفته شده‌اند هیچ‌وقت تغییر نمی‌کنند — marron (شاه‌بلوط) و orange (پرتقال) نه «e» می‌گیرند نه «s». و برخلاف فارسی و انگلیسی، رنگ «بعد از» اسم می‌آید: une pomme rouge درست است و une rouge pomme غلط.
Group one: most colours add -e for a feminine noun — vert → verte, noir → noire, and blanc becomes blanche. Group two: colours already ending in -e never change — rouge, jaune, rose. Group three: colours borrowed from a thing stay frozen no matter what — marron (a chestnut) and orange (the fruit) never take -e or -s. And unlike Persian and English, the colour goes AFTER the noun: une pomme rouge, not une rouge pomme.
