گرامر: فعل‌های بازتابی: کنش به خودت برمی‌گردد

Reflexive verbs: the action comes back to you

Mettere means to put something somewhere. Add the reflexive pronoun and it becomes mettersi, to put on yourself: mi metto, ti metti, si mette. You have already met two of these without noticing — chiamarsi in mi chiamo, to call oneself, and alzarsi in mi alzo, to raise oneself. The pronoun changes with the person and sits in front of the verb. Persian often builds the same idea with a possessive instead, «پالتویم را می‌پوشم», so the meaning is familiar even though the machinery is not.

Mi metto il cappotto.
کنش روی خودت
Porto una camicia.
حالت: تنم است
mi chiamo, mi alzo, mi metto
