The vowel drops only before uno and otto
ایتالیایی دهگان و یکان را به هم می‌چسباند و یک کلمه می‌سازد. اگر یکان با مصوت شروع شود — یعنی uno یا otto — دهگان مصوت آخرش را می‌اندازد: venti+uno می‌شود ventuno و trenta+otto می‌شود trentotto. با بقیهٔ یکان‌ها دهگان دست‌نخورده می‌ماند: ventitré، ventiquattro، trentacinque. یک نکتهٔ خوشایند هم هست: ایتالیایی می‌گوید «بیست‌ویک سال دارم» (ho ventuno anni) دقیقاً مثل فارسی — این انگلیسی است که با «I am» از همه جدا افتاده.
Italian glues the ten and the unit into one word. If the unit begins with a vowel — uno or otto — the ten drops its own final vowel: venti+uno becomes ventuno, trenta+otto becomes trentotto. Every other unit leaves the ten intact: ventitré, ventiquattro, trentacinque. Note also that Italian says "I HAVE twenty-one years", ho ventuno anni, exactly as Persian says «بیست‌ویک سال دارم» — English is the odd one out with "I am".
